With weather all along the Mid-Atlantic AT, High Gear and I decided to head to Maine for the long weekend. Just past peak fall color down east so the forest is magnificent.

On April 21, 2010, after more than twenty years of dreaming, reading, planning, hoping, delaying, and anticipating, I started hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. 2,200 miles. Five million steps. Tradition demands that you assume a trail name while part of the thruhiker community. Mine will be OldSchool.
