I admit it may not be easy to see in the picture, but the New York City skyline is visible from the Appalachian Trail here on Black Mountain. I'm waving hello right now!

On April 21, 2010, after more than twenty years of dreaming, reading, planning, hoping, delaying, and anticipating, I started hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. 2,200 miles. Five million steps. Tradition demands that you assume a trail name while part of the thruhiker community. Mine will be OldSchool.
